Installation Instructions
Thank you for purchasing a Dustpipe internal return, self contained, dust collection system. Please read all of the instructions, which are provided in this manual, carefully before operating this unit. All questions regarding installation, operation, or service should be directed to Dustpipe.com, Inc. at 1-877-322-0070. For your safety, please keep your hands clear of the impeller housing at all times. Any time performing maintenance of any kind please disconnect electrical supply to the unit. Also please note that this machine must be grounded to prevent personal injury, electrical shock, etc.
Assembly:
1. This unit is shipped up-side-down. Lift the unit out of the crate and turn it over. Raise the body in the air, insert the legs and lower to your required height. Using the ¾” diameter bolts, washers, and nylock nuts provided bolt the legs to the unit. Place a washer on the bolt insert the bolt through the leg and unit. Place the other washer and nut on the other end of the bolt and tighten.
2. For safety reasons, tighten all the fasteners on the unit, loosening may occur during shipment. Before making connections to the electrical power source, make sure that the fan turns freely and that both allen head screws within the impeller housing are tight.
3. To securely fasten the unit to the floor, place lags through the holes located at the bottom of the legs. Please do not operate the unit until it is securely fastened in all four (4) places.
4. The extra strength, 6mill, clear plastic collection bags are to be fastened to the lower portion of the unit using either the steel quick release or the t-bolt straps provided. (Note if using the lower bag height position, it is necessary to roll the edge of the bag over to compensate for the individual height requirement.) Lower cloth canvas collection bags and /or connectors to allow the use of drums may be added at any time. Call on us at any time for pricing on these options.
5. The white cloth filter bags are to be fastened to the top portion of the unit using the double t- bolt steel band clamps provided. These will be supported by the “HALO” brackets that were supplied with the unit.
6. The standard motor used with these models is three phase, 208/220/440 volt, 60-cycle. Single phase 115/220 volt motors are available for certain models; consult our office. There is a diagram located on the inside of the motor junction box that will assist you in the wiring. A magnetic motor starter is highly recommended to protect the motor against overload. Please consult your dealer or our price sheet for this option.
Start Up
1. Before operating the motor, make sure that the filter and collection bags are connected securely to the unit and the piping for the ductwork is properly attached. If you operate the unit without doing this the motor amps will be too high and the unit will shut down.
2. The motor should rotate in the same direction as the yellow arrow on the motor housing indicates. To change the motor rotation interchange any two of the three motor leads. (Note Make certain that the fan is rotating in the proper direction. If you are uncertain, try reversing the rotation, the difference in air flow and suction will be noticeable.)
3. Once the unit is in operation, check the amperage of the motor against the number that appears on the motor information plate. If it is higher, stop operation immediately contact the factory.
4. Do not collect fine sanding dust until one day after the unit has been used. This type of dust could clog a new filter bag. Collect shavings and or chips first if possible.
Maintenance
Plastic collection bags
The units were constructed so that bags could rest on the floor, thus prolonging the life of the bag. These bags are reusable, but due to the excessive weight of the waste material and pressure incurred during operation, we recommend purchasing replacement bags from your dealer. The bags are made of six-millimeter thick plastic that is very durable. They should be removed before they are completely filled to avoid spillage. When attaching the bags to the unit , place the bag under the machine and lift up until the bag opening is flush with the top of the black foam gasket-NO HIGHER. This will allow the bag to rest properly on the floor and not pull down.
Fan
Caution:
1. Never operate a unit with a cracked or damaged impeller.
2. Never inspect or attempt repair on the impeller without first completely stopping the units’ rotation and disconnecting the electrical power to the motor.
FAILURE to follow these guidelines could result in personal injury!!
If the fan starts to vibrate excessively, stop the unit immediately. Follow the instructions listed above, remove the cover-plate and inspect the impeller. On occasion, material may be stuck or jammed in the unit, carefully remove the obstruction and proceed. If the unit is excessively damaged, contact your local dealer immediately. (Note: The impeller has been manufactured, machined and balanced by professionals with special equipment. They should be the only persons performing any repairs.) Do not attempt to loosen or remove the fan impeller from the motor shaft with out first speaking to our service department for specific instructions. We will not be responsible for fan or motor damage if we are not notified BEFORE work has begun.
BEANE® Filter Bags
To maintain the desired CFM level, airflow must remain normal. If the airflow is reduced, the suction power of the unit will be directly affected. The durability of the filter bags varies within very wide limits. Depending on the operational conditions, type of dust, dust load, filter stress, the filter life expectancy is one to two years.
The filters should be checked frequently for proper attachment, wear and any tears in the fabric. During normal operation, a certain dust layer should remain on the inside of the bags even after cleaning. This layer will increase the high degree of separation. A certain amount of fine dust will lose its efficiency over long periods due to the deposit in the fabric and due to wear and tear.
In case the concentration of the fine dust in the air is extremely high, the filters can be cleaned through “beating” of “shaking” the filter bag material. To do this – be certain to turn the electricity to the unit off and shake the filter bags by hand. We suggest that this process be done on a daily basis. This allows for the removal of the “cake buildup” inside of the filters and prevents clogging and assists in restoring normal airflow. It is also possible to clean the filter bags with and industrial strength vacuum cleaner.
After an extended period of time, (usually one or two years) you should replace the filters. Please call upon us to purchase new replacement filter bags for your dust collection system.
NOTE: DO NOT WASH OR DRY CLEAN THE BAGS, FOR THIS WILL CLOG THE PORES AND RUIN THE CORRECT OPERATION OF THE FILTER BAGS. THEY SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO MOISTURE AS THIS WILL SHRINK THE FABRIC.
We welcome your comments, suggestions and questions.
Thank you again for your purchase, we are confident you will be pleased with our product performance.
